   What a beautiful little clock! Well finished. And very convenient to use. The smart functionality is a bit sneaky. And the screen is always on. So never a blank black surface on your wrist.

   The Fossil Collider smartwatch is a stylish and very elegant smartwatch. At first glance, you won't notice that it is a smartwatch, but it looks like an analogue watch. That is has 1 big advantage anyway, and that is that you can always read the time and the screen does not have to be activated all the time because of this, as with some other smartwatches. Because the Fossil Collider also has physical hands, the watch also really feels like a watch and not like a computer where the dial is shown on the watch by means of a screen. The operation is not via touchscreen but is innovative through the buttons on the side of the watch. With the buttons, you can quickly reach the most important functions and you can choose what you think are the important functions via the app. The most important items are always displayed on the screen. Think of the date, but also current heart rate, weather and steps already taken. As the watch uses an e-ink screen, the battery lasts a very long time. With me, the watch easily saved a week. Which is nice, because I didn't want to have to charge my watch every night in addition to my phone. Besides, charging is very fast. A disadvantage of the e-ink screen is that it cannot display colours. This makes everything black and white, but that does not matter for the watch's functions. Fossil has chosen not to have any additional apps installed on the watch. As a result, you are bound to the functionalities included in the watch and unfortunately you cannot link Strava or the like to your watch. However, it does come with a great workout app that allows you to record various most common sports (running, workout, weights & treadmill). In the Fossil app, you can also choose which apps (installed on your phone) you want to receive notifications from. I myself chose Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger and SMS messages. With these, I get the most important notifications on my watch. The only drawback with Whatsapp is that I get several notifications in a row every time I use Whatsapp Web. The watch then vibrates and indicates that Whatsapp Web is being used. However, this is probably a "bug" in Whatsapp and not in the watch. What you cannot do with the watch is make calls or listen to music as there is no speaker in it. Swimming is also not possible as it is not fully waterproof

   De Fossil Collider smartwatch is een stijvolle en zeer elegante smartwatch. Op het eerste gezicht valt het niet op dat het een smartwatch is, maar lijkt het een analoge horloge. Dat is heeft sowieso 1 groot voordeel en dat is dat je de tijd altijd af kunt lezen en het scherm hierdoor niet steeds geactiveerd hoeft te worden zoals bij sommige andere smartwatches. Omdat de Fossil Collider ook fysieke wijzers heeft voelt het horloge ook echt aan als een horloge en niet als een computer waarbij de wijzerplaat op het horloge getoond wordt door middel van een scherm. De bediening is niet via touchscreen maar wel innovatief door de knoppen aan de zijkant van het horloge. Met de knoppen kun je snel de belangrijkste functies bereiken en je kunt zelf kiezen via de app wat jij de belangrijke functies vindt. Ideaal dus. De belangrijkste items staan altijd in het scherm vermeldt. Denk hierbij aan de datum, maar ook actuele hartslag, weer en reeds gezette stappen. Ook dit kun je aanpassen via de app naar eigen smaak. Omdat het horloge gebruik maakt van een e-ink scherm, gaat de batterij erg lang mee. Bij mij redde het horloge makkelijk een week. Dat is fijn, want om naast mijn telefoon ook mijn horloge elke avond op te laden zag ik niet zitten. Daarnaast gaat opladen erg snel. Een nadeel van het e-ink scherm is wel dat er geen kleuren getoond kunnen worden. Hierdoor is alles zwart-wit, maar dat maakt voor de functies van het horloge niet uit. Fossil heeft er voor gekozen om geen extra apps op het horloge te laten installeren. Hierdoor ben je gebonden aan de functionaliteiten die in het horloge zitten en kun je helaas geen Strava o.i.d. aan je horloge koppelen. Echter zit er wel een prima workout app in waar je diverse meest gangbare sporten (hardlopen, workout, gewichten & loopband) mee kunt registeren. In de Fossil app kun je ook zelf kiezen van welke apps (die geïnstalleerd staan op je telefoon) je meldingen wilt ontvangen. Ikzelf heb gekozen voor Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger en SMS berichten. Hierbij krijg ik de belangrijkste meldingen op mijn horloge binnen. Enige nadeel met Whatsapp is dat ik telkens meerdere meldingen achter elkaar krijg als ik Whatsapp Web gebruik. Het horloge trilt dan en geeft aan dat Whatsapp Web gebruikt wordt. Dat is echter waarschijnlijk een "bug" in Whatsapp en niet in het horloge. Wat je met het horloge niet kan is bellen of muziek luisteren aangezien er geen speaker inzit. Zwemmen gaat ook niet want hij is niet volledig waterdicht

   What first caught my eye (or actually not) was the e-ink screen. It looks like the watch has no screen at all. It blends into the design of the watch. The screen displays your heart rate, weather, steps and the date (self-adjustable). However, the notifications and messages displayed are very small. Therefore, I will not use it to read the message itself. But because the messages are so small, they come in very subtle and not as screaming as a colour screen. Which can greatly distract any conversation partner and then looks at your watch instead of you. You won't have that with this e-ink screen. With the full sun on it, the screen is very readable. Seems like the brighter the sun the better. For when it is dark, there are 4 LEDs. It is sufficient but could have been aesthetically pleasing. What I do miss is that the phone's "do not disturb" function is not synchronised with the watch. You have to activate that function in the watch itself. What I do find a nice feature is that it can display the travel time from a preset address. For example, to home or work. I've been exploring the watch for 6 days now and have had it on 24/7 (outside of showering, it's splash-proof). The app can also display your sleep cycle when you keep the watch on while sleeping. I haven't had any trouble with the watch while sleeping. The battery I had charged 100% and is 68% after 6 full days. I am pleasantly surprised and actually love it. A watch that doesn't stand out but has a luxurious look. Which very subtly still shows when you have received a whatsapp or e-mail.

   Wat als eerste opviel (of eigenlijk ook niet) was het e-ink scherm. Het lijkt of het horloge helemaal geen scherm heeft. Hij gaat op in het design van het horloge. Het scherm geeft je hartslag, weer, stappen en de datum weer (zelf instelbaar). Wel zijn de notificaties en berichten die weergegeven worden heel klein. Daarom zal ik hem niet gebruiken om het bericht zelf te lezen. Maar doordat de berichtjes zo klein zijn, komen ze heel subtiel binnen en niet zo schreeuwend als een kleuren scherm. Wat een eventueel gesprek partner erg kan afleiden en kijkt dan naar je horloge ipv naar jou. Dat zal je met dit e-ink scherm niet hebben. Met de volle zon erop is het scherm zeer goed afleesbaar. Lijkt wel hoe feller de zon hoe beter. Voor wanneer het donker is zitten er 4 ledjes. Het is voldoende maar had esthetisch wel wat mooier gekund. Wat ik wel mis is dat de "niet storen" functie van de telefoon niet gesynchroniseerd is met het horloge. Je moet in het horloge zelf die functie activeren. Wat ik wel een leuke functie vind, is dat hij de reis tijd van een vooraf ingesteld adres kan weergeven. Bijvoorbeeld naar huis of werk. Ik ben het horloge nu 6 dagen aan het ontdekken en heb hem 24/7 om (buiten om het douchen, hij is spatwater dicht). De app kan ook je slaap cyclus weergeven wanneer je het horloge tijdens het slapen om houdt. Ik heb tijdens het slapen geen last van het horloge gehad. De batterij had ik 100% opgeladen en is na 6 volle dagen 68%. Ik ben blij verrast en vind het eigenlijk wel heerlijk. Een horloge wat niet opvalt maar wel luxe uitstraling heeft. Wat heel subtiel toch laat zien op je een whatsapp of mail hebt ontvangen.

   A nice sturdy watch, it has the looks of an average watch, but with some smartwatch functionalities. Battery life is not disappointing, once a week or so. Using the buttons is not always intuitive, there seems to be some customisation, but I haven't gotten that far yet. The pedometer is adjusted a bit enthusiastically and counts more steps than I walk. The heart rate seems a bit more representative fortunately. Reading messages goes well, but is quite small and difficult to read at dusk, in bright sunlight, it then often goes very well.

   Het is een mooi stevig horloge, het heeft de looks van een doorsnee horloge, maar met een aantal smartwatch functionaliteiten. De batterijduur valt niet tegen, één keer in de week ongeveer. Het gebruik met de knoppen is niet altijd even intuitief, er schijnt nog wel wat aan te passen te zijn, maar zover ben ik nog niet gekomen. De stappenteller is wat enthousiast afgesteld en telt meer stappen dan ik loop. De hartslagfrequentie lijkt wat representatiever gelukkig. Het lezen van berichtjes gaat goed, maar is best klein en in het schemer moeilijk leesbaar, in de felle zon, gaat het dan wel vaak heel goed.

   Meanwhile, I've had the Fossil Collider for about three weeks now. I have opposite opinions about it. On the one hand, it is a beautiful, stylish men's watch in a perfect size for me (didn't even have to adjust the strap). The watch did not arrive fully charged, but was fully charged and ready to use within 20 minutes. Installation was quick and easy with the app, and the watch has three buttons to switch between various notifications. Through the app, the watch's settings can be switched. Note that there is no touchscreen, so pairing with a phone is necessary. Tapping the screen only activates the backlight, which incidentally works very pleasant in the dark. Messages and calls come through well with notification via the vibration function and are easy to read on the e-ink screen. I consider the e-ink screen the biggest plus point. Because of this screen, the watch is very energy-efficient (charge once every 10 days with continuous use) and quickly full (from 7 to 100% within 30 minutes). On the other hand, I regret that the watch is not optimally suited as a sports watch. The three-button controls are not very practical during sports, which is where I really miss a touchscreen. Also, the watch does not have its own GPS. Step counting and heart rate measurement are possible, pairing with Google Fit provides clear information on exertion and sleep, although for sleep it is regularly wrong when I am quietly watching TV on the couch. The 3ATM waterproofness is unsuitable for swimming (showering is possible). I actually find this waterproofing even more questionable as condensation appeared under the glass several times, even in warm weather. If you are looking for a classic, elegant men's watch with smart notifications and some sporty functions, this watch is highly recommended. If you are a more active type and really want to use the watch in a sporty way, then my advice is to look further.

   Inmiddels heb ik de Fossil Collider nu een week of drie in huis. Ik heb er tegengestelde meningen over. Aan de ene kant is het een mooi, stijlvol herenhorloge in een voor mij perfecte maat (heb het bandje niet eens hoeven aanpassen). Het horloge kwam niet volledig opgeladen binnen, maar was binnen 20 minuten volledig vol en klaar voor gebruik. Installeren ging met de app snel en eenvoudig. Het horloge heeft drie knoppen om tussen de diverse meldingen te kunnen schakelen. Via de app zijn de instellingen van het horloge te wisselen. Let wel, er is geen touchscreen, dus koppeling met een telefoon is noodzakelijk. Door op het scherm te tikken activeer je uitsluitend de achtergrondverlichting, die overigens erg prettig werkt in het donker. Berichten en oproepen komen goed door met notificatie via de trilfunctie en zijn goed leesbaar op het e-ink scherm. Het e-ink scherm beschouw ik als het grootste pluspunt. Het horloge is door dit scherm zeer energiezuinig (eenmaal laden per 10 dagen bij continu gebruik) en snel vol (van 7 naar 100% binnen 30 minuten). Aan de andere kant vind ik het jammer dat het horloge niet optimaal geschikt is als sporthorloge. De drie knops bediening is tijdens het sporten niet heel praktisch, daar mis ik echt een touchscreen. Tevens heeft het horloge geen eigen GPS. Stappen tellen en hartslag meten is wel mogelijk, koppelen met Google Fit geeft overzichtelijk informatie over inspanning en slapen, al zit hij er bij slapen regelmatig naast als ik rustig op de bank tv lig te kijken. De 3ATM waterdichtheid ongeschikt om mee te zwemmen (douchen is wel mogelijk). Ik vind deze waterdichtheid eigenlijk zelfs nog twijfelachtig aangezien er enkele malen condensvorming onder het glas verscheen, zelfs met warm weer. Dit schijnt vaker voor te komen bij deze horloges en dat vind ik dan ook meteen het grootste minpunt. Ben je op zoek naar een klassiek, elegant herenhorloge met smart notificaties en enige sportieve functies, dan is dit horloge een aanrader. Ben je een actiever type en wil je het horloge ook echt sportief gaan gebruiken, dan is het mijn advies om verder te zoeken.

   The Fossil FTW7009; my experience First of all, let me start with the visual aspect of this watch. Gorgeous!!! I am very satisfied with it in terms of design and battery life (almost 3 weeks until it had to be recharged. Furthermore, I find that unfortunately there are only a limited number of screens to set and the biggest drawback of all is that the font is so small that I cannot read what is presented on the screen. This unfortunately prevents me from using all the functions the watch has. I feel the buzzing as a notification that something is coming in and then have to look on my mobile phone to see what is going on. Whether the measured values of heart rate ed are accurate I wonder. I could check the heart rate with my sports watch and chest strap but I haven't gotten around to that yet. There is no way I can check the rest of the measured values. In short, a great watch with a little extra functionality but then I prefer a smartwatch and not a hybrid.

   De Fossil FTW7009; mijn ervaring. Laat ik allereerst beginnen met het visuele aspect van dit horloge. Prachtig!! Ik ben er zeer tevreden over wat design en accuduur (bijna 3 weken totdat deze opnieuw opgeladen moest worden. Verder vind ik dat er helaas maar een beperkt aantal schermen in te stellen zijn en het allergrootste nadeel is dat het lettertype zo klein is dat ik niet kan lezen wat er op het scherm gepresenteerd word. Daardoor kan ik al de functies die het horloge heeft helaas niet gebruiken. Ik voel het zoemen als melding dat er iets binnen komt en moet dan op mijn gsm kijken wat er aan de hand is. Of de gemeten waarden van hartslag ed accuraat zijn vraag ik me af. Ik zou de hartslag eens kunnen controleren met mijn sport horloge en borstband maar daar ben ik nog niet aan toegekomen. De rest van de gemeten waarden kan ik op geen enkele manier controleren. Kortom, een prachtig horloge met een klein beetje extra functionaliteit maar dan heb ik liever een smartwatch en geen hybrid.

   This is the 2nd time I got to review a fossil. I deliberately signed up for this watch because I personally find the battery life of a smartwatch a limiting factor. Whereas this one would last more than a week on a battery. The watch comes neatly packaged in a nice presentation box. Convenient magnetic charging cable that really works a lot better again than on my gen3 fossil. Pairing with my android smartphone was really a breeze. The app is very clear. Also very simple. You already notice very clearly here that this is a hybrid and not a full blown smartwatch. There are far fewer functionalities on it but enough for me personally. I think the combination of an e-ink screen and analogue hands is really cool. The strap is also a bit better quality. It doesn't squeak and the links are firmly attached to each other. So winey sideways movement. This adds to a more luxurious experience. Minus point is that it is a very light band though. I would appreciate a massive slightly heavier tyre a bit more. Something I noticed is that the strap is quite small in my case. I put it on and it fit right away..just right. I have a sizeable watch collection and this is the first time I did not have to shorten the strap. I have been using the watch for a few weeks now and I like it. Sits well on the wrist. The buttons are not overly sensitive worthor I don't keep pressing buttons when bending my wrists. The battery certainly lasts a long time. over a week. App integration goes well. I can read the messages well from the screen and the lighting that can be activated with 2 taps is also nice. With me, it just doesn't always grab the 2 taps. Heart rate and sleep are measured well. Pedometer... well... I have 2 besides this one and this watch always shows between a third or double vs the other counters. M.aw this feature really doesn't add anything. Even before I get out of bed I have 240 steps sometimes. I trust fossil will do something with this to improve it. Another point is that my watch fogs up inside with temperature and humidity changes. In my opinion, this is not the intention. All in all a nice watch that will be an addition to my collection if the moisture problem is solved: Plus: Battery life Nice solid band Heart rate E-ink screen Analogue hands Minus Pedometer does not work (well) Condensation on the inside Band could be a bit more solid

   Dit is de 2e keer dat ik een fossil mag reviewen. Ik heb me bewust opgegeven voor deze klok omdat ik persoonlijk de accuduur van een smartwatch een beperkende factor vind. Daar waar deze meer dan een week met een accu mee zou gaan. Het klokje zit netjes verpakt in een mooie presentatie doos. Handige magnetische laadkabel die echt een stuk beter weer werkt dan op mijn gen3 fossil. Koppelen met mijn android smartphone was echt een makkie. De app is heel duidelijk. Ook heel simpel. Je merkt hier al heel duidelijk dat het om een hybride gaat en geen full blown smartwatch. Er zitten veel minder functionaliteiten op maar voor mij persoonlijk genoeg. De combinatie van een e-ink scherm en analoge wijzers vind ik echt geweldig gaaf. Het bandje is ook een stukje beter kwalitatief. Deze piept niet en de schakels zitten goed stevig aan elkaar. Dus wijnig zijwaartse beweging. Dit voegt toe aan een luxere ervaring. Min puntje is dat het wel een heel lichte band is. Ik zou een massive wat zwaardere band wat meer waarderen. Iets dat mij opviel is dat de band in mijn geval vrij klein is. Ik deed hem om en hij zat gelijk goed..net goed.. Ik heb een behorlijke horlogeverzameling en dit is de eerste keer dat ik het bandje niet hoefde in te korten. Ik gebruik de klok inmiddels een paar weken en vind het een fijne klok. Zit goed om de pols. De knoppen zijn niet overdreven gevoelig waardor ik niet steeds knoppen indruk bij het buigen van mn polsen. De accu gaat zeker lang mee. ruim een week. App integratie gaat goed. Ik kan de berichten goed aflezen van het scherm en de verlichting die te activeren is met 2 taps is ook prettig. Bij mij pakt hij alleen niet altijd de 2 taps. Hartslag en slaap wordt goed gemeten. Stappenteller.. tjah.. ik heb er 2 naast deze en dit horloge geeft altijd tussen een derde of het dubbele aan vs de andere tellers. M.aw. deze functie voegt echt niets toe. Nog voor dat ik uit bed kom heb ik soms al 240 stappen. Ik vertrouw erop dat fossil hier nog wel iets mee gaat doen om dit te verbeteren. Nog een ander puntje is dat mijn horloge van binnen beslaat bij temperatuur en vochtigheids wisselingen. Dat is volgens mij niet de bedoeling. Al met al een mooie klok die als het vochtprobleem wordt opgelost een toevoeging wordt voor mijn verzameling: Plus: Accuduur Mooie degelijke band Hartslag E-ink scherm Analoge wijzers Min Stappenteller werkt niet (goed) Condens aan binnekant Band zou iets massiever mogen

   Solid watch looks classic and has perfect battery life. Interface could be better though, is a bit outdated. Overall great watch if you like smartwatch features without too much fuss.
