1. "Nice look, faces less pretty"

   I had high expectations for this watch when I received it. After all, I already own a Fossil smartwatch (gen 4) and considering the watches belong to the same group, I expected many of the downsides to be improved. While I also really liked my previous watch, I must say this one has even more. Really cool looking and nice on your wrist. If you look at the software, it is (probably logically) actually the same. What is noticeable is that a number of apps that I could install before, for example Runkeeper, are now impossible to find. My biggest expectation for improvement was in battery life. While this did improve slightly, it is still disappointing. On this note, I must say that the battery life is acceptable if you only use the included Faces (even with everything on). Apps like Facer drain the battery a lot faster. And so there is a big disadvantage there. Personally, I find the included Faces to be just mwah. And I am used to having a new face almost every day, either by the watch itself, or by mr Time or by Facer. One improvement over my Fossil is the little speaker. Still, it's easier when you hear the occasional beep or something. Also with the alarm. :-). Sometimes, because Google often turns on because of the clumsy buttons on the side, the little speaker also causes funny situations. Because if Google accidentally turns on, there is still a chance that your watch will start a whole story about a word that has just been said in the room. :-). But what do I think of the watch now? Well, I don't know. I think it looks really nice, find the smartwatch features really easy and also think the little speaker sounds good. But still, I expected more from it. What is nice is that I can now have a smartwatch on me 24 hours a day. But actually this is because I have 2 of them and I can wear one while the other is charging. So if you like the look of this watch, want a watch with well-functioning smart functions and don't mind that a watch runs out of charge within a day, buy it. Otherwise, I recommend waiting a few more years for gen 8.

   Ik had hoge verwachtingen van dit horloge toen ik het ontving. Ik ben namelijk al de bezitter van een smartwatch van Fossil (gen 4) en gezien de horloges tot dezelfde groep behoren, had ik verwacht dat veel van de minpunten verbeterd zouden zijn. Hoewel ik mijn vorig horloge ook heel mooi vond, moet ik zeggen dat deze nog meer heeft. Echt een stoer uiterlijk en mooi om je pols. Als je kijkt naar de software is deze (waarschijnlijk logisch) eigenlijk gelijk. Wat wel opvallend is, is dat een aantal apps die ik voorheen wel kon installeren, bijvoorbeeld Runkeeper, nu niet meer te vinden zijn. Mijn grootste verwachting voor verbetering zat in de batterij duur. Hoewel deze wel iets is verbeterd, is het nog steeds teleurstellend. Hierbij moet ik wel zeggen dat de batterijduur aanvaardbaar is als je alleen de meegeleverde Faces gebruikt (zelfs met alles aan). Apps als Facer trekken de batterij een stuk sneller leeg. En daar zit dus wel een groot nadeel. Persoonlijk vind ik de meegeleverde faces maar mwah. En ik ben gewend bijna iedere dag een nieuwe face te hebben, danwel door het horloge zelf, of door mr Time of door Facer. Een verbetering ten opzichte van mijn Fossil is het speakertje. Het is toch makkelijker als je af en toe een piepje of iets hoort. Ook bij het alarm. :-). Soms zorgt, doordat Google vaak aan gaat door de onhandige knoppen aan de zijkant, het speakertje ook voor grappige situaties. Als Google namelijk per ongeluk aan gaat, heb je nog al eens de kans dat je horloge een heel verhaal gaat houden over een woord dat net in de kamer is gezegd. :-). Maar wat vind ik nu van het horloge? Tja, ik weet het niet. Ik vind hem echt mooi staan, vind de smartwatch features echt makkelijk en vind ook het speakertje goed klinken. Maar toch had ik er meer van verwacht. Wat wel lekker is, is dat ik nu 24 uur per dag een smartwatch om kan hebben. Maar eigenlijk komt dit omdat ik er 2 heb en de ene om kan terwijl de andere aan het opladen is. Dus vind je het uiterlijk van dit horloge mooi, wil je een horloge met goed werkende smart functies en vind je het geen probleem dat een horloge binnen een dag leeg is, koop hem. Anders raad ik aan nog een aantal jaar op gen 8 te wachten.

3. "Speed watch"

   I have had this watch for a few weeks now and I really like the way it looks. The design is good, feels firm in your hand and looks very reliable. It doesn't feel heavy in the hand at all and you notice this well while wearing it. The screen responds quickly, well and lightly. The two function buttons on it are very well placed and respond well, the rotate button goes smoothly and is well adjusted to the movement on the screen. The disadvantage of the screen I find is that it has a black border and is therefore not 100% filling, because of this you often get with 3rd pary faceplates that it sometimes irritates and I wonder if they couldn't have put that black border under the aluminium edge when designing. The installation with the Diesel app didn't work on my OnePlus 6, so I had stopped that. I had only set up the connection to my phone via the Google Wear OS app and this went very easily. I do find it funny to be able to read my apps and other notifications on the watch, but really replying is not possible on such a small screen. You can't reply to an email or send long snippets in WhatsApp. But that's not what it's for, of course. But being able to see, and swipe away, notifications is also the same reason why you take such a watch. I also find the integration of the diesel app 'Diesel T-On-I' (oid) very poor. It keeps giving notifications that you can't swipe away and went right off that app. BYE BYE. The faces available to Diesel are very few and messy and unclear. Through 3rd party apps that you have to install on your phone and watch, you suddenly get a new world. Many watch faces quickly cost €2 to €3, but a quick search and you can also download them somewhere and then import them via the app. I currently have faceplates from Breitling, Rolex, Tag Heur and Redd Bull. This makes the watch just a bit more fun All in all, a nice watch.

   Ik heb dit horloge nu al een paar weken en ik vind hem er wel erg mooi uitzien. Het design is goed, voelt goed stevig in je hand en ziet er erg betrouwbaar uit. Hij voelt totaal niet zwaar in de hand en dit merk je goed tijdens het dragen. Het scherm reageert snel, goed en licht. De twee functieknoppen die erop zitten zijn zeer goed geplaatst en reageren goed, de draai knop gaat soepel en is goed afgesteld op de beweging op het scherm. Het nadeel van het scherm vind ik dat hij een zwarte rand heeft en dus niet 100% vullend is, hierdoor krijg je vaak bij 3rd pary faceplates dat het soms irriteert en vraag ik me af hadden ze bij design die zwarte rand niet onder de aluminium rand kunnen stoppen. De installatie met de Diesel app lukte niet op mijn OnePlus 6, dus daar was ik maar mee gestopt. Ik had de verbinding met mijn telefoon maar via de Google Wear OS app opgezet en dit ging erg gemakkelijk. Ik vind het wel grappig om mijn appjes en andere meldingen op het horloge te kunnen aflezen, maar echt antwoorden is niet te doen op zo'n klein schermpje. Je kan niet reageren op een email of lang stukje in de WhatsApp sturen. Maar daar is hij natuurlijk niet voor. Maar het kunnen zien, en weg-swipen, van meldingen is ook gelijk de rede waarom je zo'n horloge neem. Daarnaast vind ik de integratie van de diesel app 'Diesel T-On-I' (oid) erg slecht. Hij blijft maar meldingen geven die je niet kunt weg-swipen en ging die app er meteen vanaf. BYE BYE. De faces die Diesel ter beschikking heeft zijn erg weinig en rommelig en onduidelijk. Via 3rd party apps die je moet installeren op je telefoon en horloge krijg je opeens een nieuwe wereld. Veel horloge faces kosten al snel € 2 a € 3, maar even zoeken en je kan ze ook ergens downloaden en dan importeren via de app. Ik heb momenteel een faceplates van Breitling, Rolex, Tag Heur en Redd Bull. Dit maakt het horloge net even iets leuker Al met al een mooi horloge.

4. "Tough smartwatch"

   In terms of looks, this watch from Diesel is incredibly beautiful and tough. The size is just right for me. And the quality of the material is also good. The watch comes without an instruction manual. But to be honest, I never read them anyway. And when installing this watch, I didn't need to. This went quite easily. You can find all kinds of information online, should you need it. As for using the smartwatch (as with many others), it is easy to quickly read messages. But if you want to send a WhatsApp message, it's better to do it via your phone. You can track your sleep. Nice, but while I sleep I do find this watch too bulky and besides, I need to charge it often and I prefer to do that at night. Like so many other watches, this smartwatch doesn't last longer than a day with me. Looking at the use of apps, I find Google Maps useful, but also messages you receive. You don't have to keep taking your phone out of your pocket, unless you so want to send a message back. Sometimes I do turn everything off so as not to be constantly disturbed. The last point concerns the operation and sound of the smartwatch. These both work very well. But if you make a lot of calls via your watch, it is therefore also quickly drained. All in all, a fine and very nice smartwatch.

   Qua looks is dit horloge van Diesel ontzettend mooi en stoer. De afmeting is voor mij precies goed. En ook de kwaliteit van het materiaal is goed. Het horloge wordt geleverd zonder gebruiksaanwijzing. Maar de eerlijkheid gebied te zeggen dat ik die toch nooit lees. En bij het installeren van dit horloge heb ik dat ook niet nodig gehad. Dit ging vrij gemakkelijk. Online kun je wel allerlei informatie vinden, mocht je hier behoefte aan hebben. Voor wat betreft het gebruik van de smartwatch (net als bij vele anderen) is het makkelijk om snel berichtjes te lezen. Maar als je een WhatsApp bericht wilt versturen kun je dit beter via je telefoon doen. Je kunt je slaap tracken. Leuk, maar tijdens mijn slaap vind ik dit horloge wel te log en daarnaast moet ik hem vaak opladen en dat doe ik dan het liefst 's nachts. Net als zoveel andere horloges gaat deze smartwatch bij mij niet langer mee dan een dag. Als ik naar het gebruik van de apps kijk vind ik Google Maps handig, maar ook berichten die je binnenkrijgt. Je hoeft niet steeds je telefoon uit je zak te pakken, tenzij je dus een bericht terug wil sturen. Soms zet ik alles wel uit, om niet continu gestoord te worden. Als laatste punt betreft het bedienen en het geluid van de smartwatch. Dit werkt allebei zeer prima. Maar als je veel belt via je horloge is deze dus ook snel weer leeg. Al met al een prima en zeer mooie smartwatch.

   After all those mostly "useful" smartwatches, this is the first beautiful smartwatch as far as I am concerned. The cool black with the big clock makes this a real men's watch. This is in contrast to the many boring or childish "unisex" watches. The metal strap does make it harder to keep the watch tight on your arm. This which is necessary for using the heart rate sensor. It fits me well, or maybe just a little too tight. But with one more link, it will be too loose again. With a rubber strap, this is of course easier to adjust. The functionality is huge. I use it especially for the sports & health functions. But the notifications are also extremely handy. You don't have to keep reaching for your phone. Next, a considerable downside is the battery life. If you want to use the watch's full functionality, the battery will not last a full day. So you then have to switch between the economy mode, and I'm still a bit of a novice at this myself. How do I make sure I make it to the end of the day? The strap broke on me once, I don't know where exactly. The strap seems solid, so this might have been an exception. Diesel immediately fixed it with a new one.

   Na al die vooral "nuttige" smartwatches is dit wat mij betreft de eerste mooie smartwatch. Het stoere zwart met de grote klok maakt dat dit een echt herenhorloge is. Dit in tegenstelling tot de vele saaie of kinderlijke "unisex" horloges. Het metalen bandje maakt het wel lastiger om de horloge strak op je arm te houden. Dit wat noodzakelijk is voor het gebruik van de hartslagsensor. Hij zit bij mij goed, of misschien net iets te strak. Maar met een schakel meer zal hij weer te los zitten. Met een rubberen band is dit natuurlijk gemakkelijker af te stellen. De functionaliteit is enorm. Ik gebruik hem met name voor de sport & health functies. Maar ook de meldingen zijn enorm handig. Je hoeft niet steeds je telefoon erbij te pakken. Een behoorlijk minpunt is vervolgens de accuduur. Wil je het horloge z'n volle functionaliteit gebruiken dan zal de accu het geen volledige dag uithouden. Je dient dan dus te schakelen tussen de bespaarmodus, zelf ben ik hier nog een beetje zoekende in. Hoe zorg ik ervoor dat ik het einde van de dag haal? Het bandje is bij mij eenmaal kapot gegaan, waar dit hem precies in zit is mij onbekend. Het bandje komt degelijk over dus mogelijk was dit een uitzondering. Dit is door Diesel overigens direct opgelost met een nieuwe.

   A tricky start, but works fine now. This is my 3rd smartwatch. Started in late 2014 with one with then Android Wear. Switched to a smartwatch with Tizen in 2016. And after bijn 4 years, this review possibly found a nice option to take a closer look at Wear Os again. The smartwatch itself, looks good. The clock, is not too big for me, and also the strap (after removing 2 links) fits fine. Also opens and closes easily. 3 buttons a the side the top and bottom you can assign yourself to an app. The one in the middle allows you to call up the apps and then scroll through them by turning the button (this also works with your messages). Just called the watch, but although I could hear the other party well, they couldn't hear me! Nice feature but so not useful. The red outer edge gives the watch something distinctive, and because it is slightly recessed into the watch, it remains a surprising effect. My battery consumption is about 4.5 per cent per hour (with everything that can be switched on, so maximum consumption). So it easily lasts a day. (charging every night). With the battery functions, I can extend this to several weeks if I only show the time (task Diesel itself did not test). As was also the case with the previous watches, it is advisable to do a reboot after installing a new watchface. I did not do this once and within 6 hours the watch was empty and would not recharge immediately. The charger had to be disconnected from the power to reactivate it. Had twice now that the watch would not immediately start charging. Limited tiles available (similar to widgets) A big PLUS = wrist gestures to read your messages and scroll through them. This works wonderfully. GPS works fine, Heart rate is similar to previous watch. Would not go swimming with it. Google assistant understands Dutch, is nice.

   Een lastig begin, maar werkt nu prima. Dit is mijn 3e smartwatch. Begonnen eind 2014 met een met toen nog Android Wear. In 2016 overgestapt op een smartwatch met Tizen. En na bijn 4 jaar vond deze review mogelijk een mooie optie om Wear Os weer eens van dichtbij te bekijken. De smartwatch zelf, ziet er goed uit. De klok, is mij niet te groot, en ook het bandje (na 2 schakels verwijderd te hebben) zit prima. Gaat ook gemakkelijk open en dicht. 3 knoppen een de zijkant de bovenste en onderste kun je zelf toewijzen aan een app. De met de middelste kun je de apps oproepen en dan door het draaien aan de knop hierdoor heen scrollen (dit werkt ook met je berichten). Zojuist met de watch gebeld, maar hoewel ik de andere partij goed kon horen, zij mij niet! Leuke functie maar zo niet bruikbaar. De rode buitenrand geeft het horloge iets aparts, en doordat het iets verzonken in het horloge ligt blijft het een verrassend effect. Batterij verbruik zit bij mij op ongeveer 4,5 procent per uur (hierbij heb ik alles aan staan wat aan kan staan. maximaal verbruik dus). Kan er dus gemakkelijk een dag mee vooruit. (elke nacht opladen). Met de batterij functies kan ik dit verlengen tot enkele weken als ik alleen de tijd laat zien (opgave Diesel zelf niet getest). Zoals met de vorige watches ook het geval was, is het raadzaam na installatie van een nieuwe watchface even een reboot te doen. 1x niet gedaan en binnen 6 uur was de watch leeg, en wilde ook niet meteen opladen. De oplader moest van de stroom af om deze weer te activeren. Nu 2x gehad dat de watch niet meteen wilde beginnen met laden. Beperkte hoeveelheid tiles beschikbaar (vergelijkbaar met widgets) Een grote PLUS = polsbewegingen om je berichten te lezen en hierdoor heen te scrollen. Dit werkt heerlijk. GPS werkt prima, Hartslag is gelijk aan een eerdere watch. Zou er niet mee gaan zwemmen. Google assistant verstaat Nederlands, is wel zo fijn.
