Mondaine Helvetica watches are based on the iconic Helvetica typeface from 1957. It is used in countless well known designs all over the world and it is not surprising for Mondaine - the ultimate Swiss design brand - to incorporate the typeface in one of its watch collections. The watch lines are arranged by weight and size, just like a typeface: light, regular and bold.
Swiss typography and the Helvetica typeface - designed by Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffmann - is iconic in the design world. The Mondaine Helvetica No 1 brings the essence of the Helvetica® font into a watch. The result is a sleek design, with a few unique features. The date window has been moved from its traditional position to match the typography at the bottom of the dial. The typical Helvetica® number 1, with an arc in the serif, was used as a template for the shape of the lug.
