The Bulova Curv breaks all the rules

Posted 12 September 2020 by Miriam

Watch manufacturer Bulova breaks all written and unwritten rules with the unique Curv watch. A curved movement, that cannot be true. Bulova proves that it is possible. Because Bulova has a long history of unique watch innovations that no one thought possible.

Bulova, an all American innovator

In Europe, the Bulova brand may be less well-known, but in the United States it is one of the most respected and best-known watch brands. From the moment in 1875 founder Joseph Bulova opened his first store on Maiden Lane in Manhattan - then the center of New York's jewelry industry - his vision has made Bulova one of the most innovative watch brands in the world.

Bulova developed the first clock radio in 1928 and shortly after, in 1931, the world's first electric clock. In the 1940s, Bulova had an intensive relationship with the American army under the motto 'To serve those who serve us', for which they developed special hack and pilot watches.

But Bulova's most spectacular innovation came in 1960, when they developed the first fully electronic wristwatch; The legendary Accutron, with an accuracy of two seconds per day. Unique for the time when only mechanical watches existed.

But also in this new century Bulova still brings special watches to market, such as the unique Curv with curved movement.

Revolutionary ergonomic design

Bulova introduced the Curv in 2016 at the world's largest watch fair in Basel. The revolutionary design is a feat of engineering, as the chronograph movement has a curved shape. The case profile is nevertheless slim, and due to the curved shape, the watch fits ergonomically around the wrist.

The steel strap of the watch has been especially developed for wearing comfort. The brushed steel has striking open elements. The cutouts in the dial - which reveal the screws of the movement - give the dials a machine-like look, refined with steel or rose gold accents.

You can expect the usual high standard of Bulova from the High precision quartz movement with a 262 kHz vibration frequency.

Coming Soon: The latest Bulova Curv - barrel-shaped with an industrial look

The latest addition to the Curv family - the 96A257 - will be released in late September 2020. The barrel-shaped case with open heart dial gives this modern chronograph an industrial look. The - just like the case and the movement- curved sapphire crystal on the front and back guarantees an unobstructed view of the unique movement.
